BJK Leadership Initiative

Billie Jean King has fought for equality her entire life, and in 2014, she founded the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative, a non-profit dedicated to addressing the critical issues required to achieve diverse, inclusive leadership in the workforce.

Serving as a platform on which conversations about inclusive leadership and talent management can ignite, the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative works with those in positions of power to increase diverse opportunities at every corporate level through their three pillars of Listen, Learn, and Lead.

Promoting and Celebrating Inclusion

Through advocacy and action, research and innovation, and insight and empowerment, the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative fights to ensure that those in positions of power in the workplace represent the global world, fresh ideas, inclusive talent, and foster a collaborative work environment.

Inspired by tennis great Althea Gibson’s book, I Always Wanted to be Somebody, which focuses on Gibson’s experiences with racial inequality, Billie Jean King envisions a world where individuals are free to bring their authentic selves to work every single day. She created the Billie Jean King Leadership Initiative to foster a movement where diverse talent is promoted and celebrated, from the top down and the bottom up.
