Billie Jean King was buzzing around the National Tennis Center that bears her name on Saturday afternoon. There was nothing new about this. It’s what King does best. She moves from person to person — be they dear friend or total stranger — as if she’s their longtime neighbor or perhaps their member of Congress, a role that certainly could have been hers had she wanted to take a step down from her current duties as cultural icon and role model for a generation or two or three.
